Hailing from the Ballyboy branch of Comhaltas in County Offaly, Katelyn Corrigan is the youngest of five musical sisters. A dedicated bodhrán player from a young age, she has been sharing her passion for the instrument through teaching for over a decade.

Katelyn’s bodhrán journey began in the renowned Dan and Molly’s pub in Ballyboy, where she was taught under the multi-All-Ireland-winning instruction of Martin McHugh. There, she learned a traditional double-ended playing style before heading to Port Laois where she continued her style deployment with Colm Phelan, developing a distinctive single-ended approach while still preserving the rich tonal and traditional essence of Martin’s teachings.

Her love for the drum really developed when attendingworkshops across Ireland, learning from some of the most respected bodhrán players and incorporating their influences into her playing. Beyond Ireland, her love for music and the bodhrán has carried her across the globe, from Uganda to Russia. Even during a eighteen month backpacking adventure, her bodhrán remained a constant companion—practiced in hostels on the far side of the world.
