"Hidden Gem" is a documentary series that highlights remarkable individuals within the Black Deaf community. The current focus is on Mervin Primeaux-O'Bryant, an African American Creole Deaf, non-binary, multidisciplinary performing artist from Lafayette, Louisiana. Mervin has overcome childhood abuse, racial discrimination, and the challenges of being a long-term HIV survivor. Despite these obstacles, Mervin has risen to prominence in the entertainment industry, showcasing their talent and resilience, and serving as an inspiration to the Black, Deaf, LGBTQ+, and HIV-positive communities.
