“Doc Moves to the Mountains” is a children’s book about Southern Sun Farm Sanctuary’s big draft horse who came from the Outer Banks of North Carolina, to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Doc needed to move because his health and breathing were affected by the heat on the Outer Banks. It is here in the mountains he found his forever home! 

Pam Lather is the author and a volunteer at Southern Sun Farm Sanctuary. She has been an advocate for abused and neglected children in Ohio before moving to North Carolina. Doc has stolen her heart and she wanted to share his story!

The illustrator, Anna Welsh was a school teacher, and after her retirement she continued working with children and adults to have a creative space to use art as an expressive outlet. She truly brought Doc to life in the book!
