Come tap your toes and move your feet to the fun music of Canada's East Coast, and Québec! This will be an introduction to: (1) Cape Breton stepdance, from Nova Scotia, and (2) the seated "podorhythmie" foot rhythms of Québec. Everyone is welcome - whether you are a seasoned dancer or have never danced before. Open to all ages. Hard-soled shoes are recommended. and to clarify - Cape Breton dancing is Celtic! This tradition is very closely related to Scottish music and dance. We've also learned a few Cape Breton tunes in our Intro to Celtic class! **No Dance Experience Necessary!!***
From the West Coast of British Columbia, Jocelyn Pettit has delighted audiences and ignited stages across Canada and worldwide, appeared on national television and radio, and released four albums. She performs with The Jocelyn Pettit Band, Jocelyn Pettit & Ellen Gira, and as a guest with other special collaborations. As an educator, she offers fun and engaging fiddle and stepdance lessons, workshops, and school performances.
