David Lynchβs 1977 dystopian debut feature film Eraserhead is an influential indie cult classic, with striking black and white cinematography and iconic sound design. The surrealist film depicts the trials and tribulations of a young man who struggles with the demands of becoming a father in a desolate industrial landscape.
Described by Lynch as βa dream of dark and troubling thingsβ, it stars Jack Nance, who would go on to be a long-term collaborator of Lynch, through his recurring role as Pete Martell on Twin Peaks.
Eraserhead has been selected by Helston-based psychoanalyst and DJ Tom Greenall as a tribute to the influence of Lynchβs work and life on Tomβs own practice.
