Tasting Notes:

About: A five year old high rye bourbon finished in maple syrup whiskey barrels using syrup produced from the nearby Griner Family Sugar Bush. Slow proofed and bottled at 90 Proof/45% ABV in 750mL bottles.

Nose: As one might expect, the basis of this bouquet is the sweet, rich aroma of maple syrup. However, that sweetness doesn’t dominate the nose, as it’s tempered by notes of oak and cinnamon – adding a spicy and earthy oak dimension.

Palate: The first sip is rich, sweet, and fruity, reminiscent of caramel spread onto a red apple. Gradually, warm cinnamon and nutmeg work their way into the flavor shifting to a buttery maple syrup or molasses finish. Swallowing sends vanilla, cinnamon and smoky butterscotch flavor that coats the tongue.
