Thread painting is a free motion quilting techniqueβ that uses thread to create the appearance of brush strokes, shadows, depth and texture.
Though used primarily for art pieces, thread painting can also be use to add interest to printed panels and appliquΓ© quilts.
In this beginners workshop students will learn how to turn a photograph into a line drawing, how to use a line drawing to create an appliquΓ© as the base for a thread painted design, how to use a straight stitch for simple thread painting of a line design and how to use the zig zag stitch to add beautiful depth, variation of design and texture.
This is the perfect workshop to experiment with a variety of different threads.
During class students will work on a small rendition of a rose and will receive the supply list and files for the line drawing as well as the individual pieces reversed for fusible appliquΓ© at the time of registration.
