As a hockey parent and coach in Pittsburgh, PA, I have carried a tourniquet in my coaching bag since my son was 4 years old in the learn to skate program (10 years ago). It occurred to me over the years how there are no immediate emergency personnel on-site during practices or at most out of town games and tournaments. Once I had the idea to create an emergency bleed control kit that could save a youth hockey player's life, I felt obligated to act.
